What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories and experiences that may continue to affect how you think, feel, and respond today.

When something overwhelming happens, the brain can sometimes store that experience in a way that leaves it feeling "stuck." EMDR helps the brain reprocess those memories so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity. While you may still remember what happened, it often feels less overwhelming, allowing you to move forward with greater confidence and peace.

EMDR is a collaborative process, and you remain in control throughout treatment. We move at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for you.

Sometimes people come to therapy knowing exactly what they want to work on. Other times, they simply know they don't want to keep feeling the way they do.

EMDR may be helpful if you find yourself:

  • Feeling stuck in patterns that are difficult to change

  • Reacting more intensely than you'd like in certain situations

  • Carrying the weight of difficult or painful experiences

  • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly on edge

  • Struggling with self-worth or harsh self-criticism

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or others

  • Repeating unhealthy relationship patterns

  • Finding that past experiences continue to affect your daily life

Whether your experiences stem from a single event or a series of difficult life experiences, EMDR can help create lasting change by addressing the root of those experiences rather than simply managing symptoms.

EMDR Intensives

Healing doesn't always fit into a 50-minute session.

EMDR Intensives provide dedicated time to slow down, go deeper, and focus on meaningful healing in a supportive environment. If you're ready for a more immersive therapy experience, an intensive may be the right next step.

Helping you move beyond the past so you can feel more present in your life today.
