Equine Assisted Therapy
There is something uniquely healing about being in the presence of a horse. Their ability to remain present, respond honestly, and connect without judgment creates an environment unlike any traditional therapy office.
My love for horses began long before I became a therapist. After spending over a decade as a horseback riding instructor, I experienced firsthand the profound impact horses can have on confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being. Throughout my own life, horses have been a source of healing, teaching me the value of trust, authenticity, and being fully present. It is a privilege to bring together my two greatest passions, helping people heal and partnering with horses to support that journey.
In Equine-Assisted Therapy, horses become partners in the therapeutic process. Rather than focusing on riding, sessions involve thoughtfully guided interactions with horses that help increase self-awareness, identify patterns, strengthen emotional regulation, and build healthier relationships. Because horses naturally respond to our emotions, body language, and energy, they often mirror what we may not yet recognize in ourselves. This real-time feedback can lead to powerful insight and lasting change.
Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, equine-assisted therapy offers a unique opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and heal in a supportive, nature-based environment.
No horse experience is necessary—just a willingness to show up exactly as you are.
Equine-Assisted EMDR
Equine-Assisted EMDR combines the power of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with the unique therapeutic benefits of working alongside horses. This approach integrates evidence-based trauma treatment with the grounding presence and honest feedback horses naturally provide.
Horses have an incredible ability to notice subtle changes in our emotions and nervous system. Their calm, nonjudgmental presence can help you feel more regulated, connected, and present throughout the EMDR process. For many individuals, being outdoors with a horse creates a sense of safety that allows deeper healing to unfold.
Using the EquiLateral® approach, horses become an active part of the healing process—supporting regulation, awareness, and the integration of traumatic experiences in a way that is both experiential and deeply meaningful. This combination of EMDR and equine-assisted therapy can be especially beneficial for individuals healing from trauma, anxiety, attachment wounds, and other experiences that are difficult to put into words.
Sessions are thoughtfully tailored to your unique needs, with the horse serving as a supportive partner throughout your healing journey.
