Hannah Wright, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
California LMFT #164451
I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) dedicated to helping individuals heal from trauma and reconnect with themselves. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health from Palo Alto University and have experience providing therapy in elementary schools, intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization (PHP) mental health programs focused on OCD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders, as well as residential substance use treatment. I also have experience managing an outpatient mental health program serving veterans and their dependents, while supporting and mentoring clinicians as they grow in the field. Today, my passion is helping individuals heal from trauma through compassionate, evidence-based, and experiential care.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 10 years as a horseback riding instructor. Horses have been a constant throughout my life and an instrumental part of my own healing journey. Through both my personal and professional experiences, I have witnessed the profound impact horses can have on healing, self-discovery, and emotional growth. It is an honor to integrate that passion into my work through equine-assisted therapy. I believe healing isn't one-size-fits-all. Every person has a unique story, and therapy should reflect that. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to your individual needs. Whether we're meeting in the therapy office, walking a local trail, or working alongside horses, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered.
Outside of my work as a therapist, you'll usually find me hiking, traveling, exploring new places, or spending time with horses. My love for the outdoors continues to inspire my work, and I enjoy helping clients reconnect with themselves through both nature and experiential approaches.
My Approach
My work is rooted in trauma-informed care, with a focus on helping individuals heal from painful experiences, reconnect with themselves, and develop greater emotional regulation and resilience. I primarily utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals process distressing memories and experiences that may continue to impact their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and sense of self.
Alongside EMDR, I integrate approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, parts work, schema therapy, narrative therapy, and other experiential techniques. I tailor therapy to each individual's needs, recognizing that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process.
“Horses have a way of reflecting what we carry, even before we have words for it.”
